This is a short summary of what we are. Please have a quick read through before you apply.
Digger Street is an Alternative Urban Community. It is a do-ocracy that provides a nurturing, encouraging and inspiring residency for local, national and international artists. We have no paid staff and everything here is the result of the energies of those that have been here before and those that are here now. Please respect that. We would like to remind you that Digger Street is not a backpackers and while we thank you for your dollars for they really help the pay the bills, we really hope you participate as well. Digger Street is a real alternative. Some people say we are a Permaculture project with our focus on “Systems Ecology”. Maybe we are, we do document what we can in our ever evolving system. We are trying to demonstrate a model that people can copy “Now”. It is an effort equity model where everyone is a participant as best as they can be. Enjoy!
Public Space versus Private Space.
Your rooms are your sanctuary, keep them locked, not even the organisers of the project have any reason to be in your room without your consent. However the rest of the space, even that outside your doorway is the commons, this is our collective space, feel free to move around all the houses.
Process
Check the Manual and the website before asking someone question. If the question and answer are not in the Guide r on the website, then please seek out the answer come back and write your question and answer in a text document. You will truly be gifting your knowledge and experience forward in time, so those that come after can collectively benefit from your actions. We thank you.
Please read the Notes On Walls, near Compost, or wash-up area, they will explain what to do next in the space your in. If you have other suggestions on what to do, write it then on the note your are reading. Every so often we retype them and they become part of our overall guide. It’s how we learn from those that are doing it, not the ones that talk about it. It’s how we manage the now.
