"Get A Good Feed and Smash Capitalism" The Cairns Radical Media Collective presents a movie night exploring the foundations of the cruel capitalist system of slavery and how we can begin to build a more decent world, beginning with the four part documentary "The Century of Self". Each night will begin with a good vegetarian meal and we will also be showing various other films and snippets and discussion exploring the questions of how we can take action to improve the situation around us. VAGUE INTRODUCTION TO THE CAIRNS RADICAL MEDIA COLLECTIVE In these key moments in human history, in a world where a holocaust is occuring in the name of 'the war on terror', the surveillance state develops to terrifying proportions, ethnobotanists are tried in secret courts created for 'terrorists' and millions starve in the developing world it comes down to each individual and community to begin building better structures for their own lives, their own families, in their own surroundings... Therefore the Cairns Radical Media Collective will focus on action which can be taken here in Cairns and in wider Australia within our own communities. 'Food Not Bombs' programs, creative projects, DIY publishing. Behold, our culture is our own! We don't need to consume the billious garbage of television, to read books by celebrity demagogues without soul, to waste our time thinking 'man theres nothing to do in this town' - because the corporations and men of money power don't bother to cater for anyone except those who want the thoughtless and shallow. Come and build your own culture with us! Assert your right to be a human being and a creator of your own culture, your own world! Don't be a slave!
