Transitions Far North Queensland - TFNQ
A Transition Initiative is where a whole community from the footy club to organic gardeners comes together to answer the question:
"for all those aspects of life that this community needs in order to sustain itself and thrive, how do we significantly increase resilience (to mitigate the effects of Peak Oil) and drastically reduce carbon emissions (to mitigate the effects of Climate Change)?"
Then come up with an action plan and get to work creating the future we want. Life after peak oil and climate change could be even better it's up to us.
Transition Initiatives/Towns is now an international movement providing templates, tools, resources and training to new enthusiasts to make sure their Transition Initiative is a success.
At the heart of a Transition Initiative are the guiding Ethics and Principles and Heart and Soul. Heart and Soul is the essential though tricky and often neglected task of keeping a group working together in a positive inclusive way. The last thing we want is for the transition initiative to become “another bloody group”.
Transitioning a whole community is a huge task so we divide to conquer the key areas of life or domains of action in any community. Sections of the community who are interested in a particular domain can work more efficiently to address a single domain.
